Women’s Event: Cyclist Safety Panel
A panel of speakers on what you need to know about cyclist safety.
This event is a women’s only (women/trans/femme/gender non-conforming) discussion around bicycle safety.
Vehicle vs cyclist accidents are far too common. It’s turned riders off from road riding and/or commuting, and that’s a trend we need to nip in the bud. We’ve curated a panel of safety experts to inform us how to stay safer, what’s happening in our community to promote safety, and what to do if an incident happens. We’re thrilled to host:
•Mara Abbott, Olympic road racer; the first U.S. cyclist ever to win the Giro Donne, one of the Grand Tours of women’s bicycle racing; Giro Rosa champion; multiple-time Mt Evans Hill Climb winner; National Road Race Champion; safety columnist to speak on cycling safety.
•Jon Flora, personal injury lawyer, will talk about what to do AFTER an incident to protect the cyclist’s interests.
•Brenna Backe, on behalf of Cyclists 4 Community on what the organization has done to further safety between vehicles and bikes including the “3 feet” road signs.
•Todd Brady of Nite Ize will provide giveaways (there’s a limited amount so come early!) plus offer pointers on daytime riding safety.
We’ll also offer info on how to report an incident via Boulder’s “Close Call” app, and the “Vision Zero” initiative.
When: Monday, May 14th 2018
6:45pm – 8:15pm
Where: Boulder Cycle Sport
4580 Broadway, Ste. B, Boulder, Colorado
There will be beer. But don’t drink and drive/ride, the irony would be too great.
