WHAT: Tuesday Night Women’s Ride & Fix-a-Flat Clinic

WHERE: Meet at Boulder Cycle Sport North (4580 Broadway St. Unit B)

WHEN: Tuesday, March 31, 5:30pm (ride will meet every other Tuesday: April 14, 28; May 12, 26; June 9, 23; July 7, 21)

CONTACT PEOPLE/RIDE LEADERS: Kristen Legan,  Kristen@apexcoachingco.com; Meredith Miller, meredith73@gmail.com

MISSION: To give women more opportunities to meet, socialize and ride with other women. To explore dirt/dirt paths/off the beaten path roads to open more options for riding in Boulder. To teach women how to service their own bike mechanicals (i.e., changing flats).

RIDE INFO: This will be a no-drop, FUN ride. All levels encouraged to join. We will ride a pace that the entire group dictates. Some rides will involve a significant amount of dirt. If you are uncomfortable riding on dirt/gravel roads, this is a perfect opportunity to learn how to relax and let your bike flow over the bumpy terrain. Please come prepared with your own equipment to change a flat (tube, tire lever and pump/CO2). Depending on the dynamic and needs of the group, we will pick an evening post-ride to meet the staff at BCS so help facilitate a more pleasurable and less intimidating bike shop experience.

CLINIC INFO: The clinic begins at 7:00pm after the ride. Learn the fundamental skill of fixing a flat tire. You’ll get to know the tools and techniques involved in changing a tire. Never let a flat cut a ride short or prevent you from getting out on the road ever again.

KRISTEN LEGAN: Legan is a former professional triathlete, current elite cyclist, and lives for two-wheeled adventures the world over. She was one of six women to ride the entire Tour de France in 2012 as part of the women’s Rêve Tour team. Legan races on the road and cyclocross with the local women’s EVOL Elite Cycling Team and coaches with Boulder’s APEX Coaching. She is excited to help get more women riding and racing bikes and help grow the sport of cycling for future generations.

MEREDITH MILLER: Miller has been racing bikes since 1998. She retired from full-time road racing after the 2013 season but still dabbles in road races here and there. Since adding cyclocross to her schedule in 2008, Miller has been more focused on kicking up mud, snow and dirt in the fall/winter months. In 2014 Miller and Allen Krughoff established their own cyclocross team – Noosa Professional Cyclocross Team. During the ‘off-season’ Miller enjoys exploring new roads and trails around Boulder from the top of her road, cyclocross and mountain bikes – she is continually amazed at the never-ending options she has discovered. Miller is an ambassador for USA Cycling and is committed to empowering more women to ride bikes.
