Are you ready for the 7th annual CRANKSGIVING?

Cranksgiving Boulder 2018

What is Cranksgiving?

Cranksgiving is a charity bike ride that began in 1999, organized by New York City bike messengers. Food is collected at grocery store “checkpoints” and then after being collected at the end of the race, will be donated to a local food bank. All kinds of cyclists are welcome! There is no set course, and you can ride at your own pace. Cranksgiving – Boulder is an effort by Boulder Cycle Sport and Cyclists 4 Community to give back to those in need during the holidays. Furthermore, this event is to bring community awareness to support locally and independently owned business. With your help, we do for the community what online stores can’t!

How does it work?

On race day participants will receive a shopping list 15 minutes before the start of the race. The list will have designated grocery store locations marked and a shopping list. Riders are to go to the grocery store checkpoints and buy the non-perishable food items from the checklist. Cranksgiving is lots of fun and for a great cause, it also helps shine a positive light on the local cycling community. Expect to spend about $2-3 at each grocery store ($20 total), it is required to keep all your receipts. The ride is approximately 8-10 miles depending on how you design your route. Locations are not announced in advance and there is no predetermined route – or even an order in which you must follow.

Your mission is to figure out the best route to these locations, purchase the food item specified and bring your bounty of nourishment to the start/finish area safely. Safety is paramount. We want everyone coming back alive and well. Please obey all traffic laws and wear a helmet.
All food donations will be delivered to Emergency Family Assistance Association of Boulder. To learn more about EFAA click here >>
